About

Who am I?

I’m a Brooklyn dweller who is currently working as a sexual health nurse at a community health center.  Prior to this career, I worked with homeless men and women living in a shelter in Ireland, homeless adults living in a halfway house in Boston, adults with special needs at a day center, and then as Peace Corps volunteer working with children who were finally being deinstitutionalized in Romania.  I’ve spent my various jobs taking care of others, and getting really good at NOT taking care of myself.

Learning how to practice self care has made me a better person and nurse.  I almost had to deprogram my thinking and realize I was of no help to others, if I wasn’t taking care of myself.  I’m hopeful this blog will keep me in check.  And if in addition it’s helpful to you, I’m thrilled!
